Our approach to images and media
We source visual content through several legitimate channels. These include licensed images from commercial stock libraries, press images provided by public relations agencies and official bodies, promotional materials supplied by publishers, broadcasters and cultural institutions, and original photography commissioned or produced by our team. We also embed publicly accessible social media posts where relevant to a story, and we may use screenshots of publicly available documents or broadcasts for the purpose of news reporting and commentary.
Before any image or media file is published, our editorial team conducts a rights assessment. This includes verifying the licence terms, confirming permission for the intended use, and ensuring that the source is reputable. Where an image is provided by a third party, we rely on their representation that they hold the necessary rights to grant us permission to publish. All images are reviewed by our Standards & Fact-Checking desk, led by Oliver Trent, as part of our pre-publication workflow.
Proper crediting and attribution
We take attribution seriously. Wherever possible, we credit the creator, agency or rights holder directly beneath the image or in an adjacent caption. Image attribution is managed by our standards desk, and details of our editorial team can be found on our Our Team page. If you believe an image has been incorrectly credited or not credited at all, please let us know and we will correct it promptly.
How to submit a takedown or correction request
If you are a rights holder and believe that your copyrighted work has been used on EveningLedger.uk without your permission, or if you believe an image has been misattributed or used in a way that infringes your rights, please contact us at copyright@eveningledger.uk. We aim to respond to all legitimate requests quickly and fairly.
To help us process your request efficiently, please include the following information:
- The exact URL(s) where the content appears
- A clear description of the copyrighted material you believe has been used
- Proof that you are the rights owner, or that you are authorised to act on behalf of the rights owner (for example, a registration certificate, a link to your official portfolio, or a statement of authorship)
- A brief explanation of why you believe the use is unauthorised or requires correction
- Your full name, organisation (if applicable), email address and telephone number so we can contact you if we need further information
Our response process
Upon receiving a valid takedown or correction request, we will review the material in question. Our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Oliver Trent, will assess the claim against our editorial policies and the evidence provided. Where appropriate, we will take one of the following actions: remove the content entirely, replace it with a correctly licensed or credited version, add or amend the credit line, or publish a correction notice alongside the content. We will notify you of the outcome as soon as a decision has been made.
