EveningLedger.uk is committed to transparency about how we fund our journalism. This page explains the different ways we generate revenue, the rules that govern our commercial relationships, and how we ensure our editorial independence remains uncompromised. For a broader overview of our ownership and funding structure, please see Ownership & Funding.
Affiliate Links
A common way we fund our work is through affiliate links. When we write about a product, service, or book — whether in a culture piece, a consumer feature, or a lifestyle article — we may include a link to a retailer. If you click on that link and make a purchase, EveningLedger.uk may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. The standard disclosure we use for these links is:
“This article contains affiliate links. EveningLedger.uk may earn a commission if you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you.”
This disclosure appears prominently near the relevant links or, where an entire article is built around a product or service, at the top of the piece. The use of affiliate links never determines the editorial stance of the article or the opinions expressed within it. Our journalists and editors make recommendations based on merit, value, and newsworthiness — never on the potential for commission. If you have questions about a specific affiliate relationship, please contact affiliate@eveningledger.uk.
Display Advertising
We display advertisements on EveningLedger.uk from third-party networks and direct advertisers. These adverts are clearly distinguished from editorial content. We do not allow advertising that mimics our news articles, and we maintain strict standards to ensure that adverts are not misleading, inappropriate, or intrusive. Our editorial team has no influence over which display adverts are served, and the advertising sales team operates entirely separately. For display advertising enquiries, please contact advertising@eveningledger.uk.
Sponsored Content, Partnerships & Press Access
From time to time, we publish sponsored content, commercial partnerships, and newsletter sponsorships. All such material is clearly labelled as “Sponsored,” “Partner Content,” or with a similar prominent designation. You can read our full rules for this in our Sponsored Content Policy. Importantly, no advertiser or partner has any say over the conclusions of our editorial team, a principle enshrined in our Editorial Policy.
We also occasionally receive review access to products, event tickets, or press access to venues and performances. This access is always disclosed in the relevant article, and it never guarantees a positive review. Our Reviews Policy explains in full how we handle such arrangements. The separation between our advertising and editorial operations is absolute; commercial relationships never dictate what we write, how we write it, or whether we cover a subject at all.
Other Revenue Streams
Beyond the methods above, we also generate funding through content licensing, local advertising packages, and event or media partnerships. In every case, our editorial conclusions remain independent. If you are interested in working with us commercially, please contact partnerships@eveningledger.uk.
